They asked, I didn't really have a good reason to say now - even though I have been Wiccan for years.

It turned out to be really, really easy to help families keep the Santa thing alive for the children. And fun. It occurred to me, that even that brief contact (free 5x7 print!) could influence a child for the better, some times.

I had just as much fun waving to and "Merry Christmas"ing fellow workers and customers - adult, elder, children, all of them.

I felt privileged to gift my community with a bit of joy, even while satisfying my employer's plan to sell photos.

Blessed be, indeed!Brad K.https://www.blogger.com/profile/18378344866487206569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1930142685890514338.post-72640939762549831662010-12-05T21:20:56.445-05:002010-12-05T21:20:56.445-05:00Hi Robyn,
Just discovered your blog and wanted to...Hi Robyn,

Just discovered your blog and wanted to wish you the best from a fellow doomer on the west coast. I like your public "to-do" list. That takes courage (I should probably do the same). Two items on that list resonated with me.
"Re-learn the piano or guitar" - It must have been about the same time in my life when I did that. I got some simple song books with nice pictures in them and sat at the piano with a kid in my lap - and I would peck out a song and we would sing together. Kids make a wonderful uncritical audience, and their enthusiasm provides the gentle prod to help us keep learning. There were two favorite books -The Met art museum songbook with lots of nice pictures that kids enjoyed: http://www.amazon.com/Go-Out-Window-Illustrated-Songbook/dp/0805006281
and after we had read all the Laura Ingles books, we found the songbook: http://www.amazon.com/Laura-Ingalls-Wilder-Songbook-Favorite/dp/0439048842/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1291600846&sr=1-1
To this day I still play a bit now and then, and I doubt that I would have taken it up again if I hadn't started playing to/with the kids.

The other item: "Pick 3 plants to save seeds from" - I just returned today from our local winter seed swap. I brought by half a dozen varieties that I have saved this year. What started me saving seed was one very good squash... http://squashpractice.wordpress.com/2009/12/13/squash-practice-2008-the-beginning/
and a very good book on the subject...
http://www.adaptiveseeds.com/node/19Garyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08580497879135994296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1930142685890514338.post-86754524060267465362010-12-05T18:12:36.956-05:002010-12-05T18:12:36.956-05:00The credit is at the top (Margaret Morrison) thoug...The credit is at the top (Margaret Morrison) though I've never heard of her otherwise. I suppose so. I've done it every year for maybe 5 or so. I see it everywhere.Robyn M.https://www.blogger.com/profile/08885081377174592304noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1930142685890514338.post-22432646480871684302010-12-05T17:15:31.875-05:002010-12-05T17:15:31.875-05:00Waaaah!
